Lienhoop to give virtual “State of the City” speech

Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop will once again deliver the annual State of the City address in a virtual format.

Director of Administration and Community Development Mary Ferdon said that a video of the address will be posted on the city’s website, columbus.in.gov, on Tuesday. It will be shared following the evening’s Columbus City Council meeting, which starts at 6 p.m.

During the State of the City, the mayor reflects on Columbus’s events and achievements from the past year and also discusses plans for the future.

Last year’s address was prerecorded and streamed on the city’s website due to COVID-19 concerns. Prior to the pandemic, the speech was often a public event that showcased entertainment and local food and often included additional speakers.
