Driver arrested on drug-related charges after traffic stop

A Columbus woman was arrested on felony drug charges after her vehicle was stopped Wednesday night. At approximately 7:40 p.m., Columbus police stopped a vehicle driven by Cindy I. Adorno, 45, of 1321 Sycamore St., Apt. B, for a minor traffic violation near Tally Road and Valley Forge Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

During the traffic stop, a Columbus Police Department canine alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from Adorno’s vehicle. A short time later, officers recovered approximately 13 grams of fentanyl that Adorno had concealed in her clothing, Harris said.

Adorno was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where she was remanded with a 48 hour hold on the following preliminary charges:

Dealing in a narcotic drug (Level 2 Felony)

Possession of a narcotic drug

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Adorno was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $142,500 bond, jail officials said.

The Columbus Police Department Intelligence Led Policing Unit which is a combined unit consisting of officers from CPD and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department assisted with this ongoing investigation.
