COLUMBUS
Michael Wilbur Axsom, 61, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Department.
Michael was born in Bartholomew County, Indiana, December 31, 1960, the son of the late Opal and Ernestine V. McHargue Axsom.
Michael formerly managed the Flintwood North Apartments in Columbus. He was currently working for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in transportation, and he was a school bus driver.
Michael enjoyed watching football, fishing, and playing cards.
Michael is survived by his sons, Nick Axsom of Columbus and Jeremiah Robertson of Paducah, Kentucky; grandchildren, Remington Michael Axsom of Greenwood, Indiana and Kadence and Kylee Robertson of Paducah, Kentucky; sisters, Ruth (Ronald) Moffatt of Columbus, Opal (Jerry) Beabout of North Vernon, Indiana, Betty Goddard of Greenwood, Indiana, and Valerie Jost of Columbus; brothers, Gerald Axsom of North Vernon, Indiana and Roger Axsom of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Ernestine Axsom; a sister, Linnie Axsom; and brothers, John and Averil Axsom.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. A live stream of the funeral service may be seen at barkesweaverglick.com.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Michael will be laid to rest at the Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alpha 1 Foundation.
