Franklin College freshman Brooke Stephens of Columbus is one of three students from the college to receive a paid internship this summer.
Stephens applied for and was selected for Indianapolis-based TechPoint’s Xtern program, resulting in 10-week, 9-to-5 paid internship this summer at Stanley Security, a provider of innovative integrated security solutions in Indianapolis. The Xtern program provides students with the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders at some of the state’s fastest growing tech companies.
TechPoint received more than 2,000 student applications for the summer 2022 Xtern program, 800 of whom were interviewed. Stephens, who maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during her first semester at Franklin, is among 147 who were matched with Indiana tech companies as Xterns.
“Once all three of my interviews were over, I was proud no matter if I got the position or not,” Stephens said. “Luckily, I made a really good connection with my soon-to-be manager, and I’m ever grateful for the opportunity that has been made possible through Xtern and Franklin College.”
Other Franklin College students receiving Xternships are sophomore Kylee Gaskins of Nashville and junior James Shelton from Denton, Texas.
