EDINBURGH
Mavis I. Burton, 79 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Franklin Meadows in Franklin, Indiana. She was born December 12, 1942 in Casey County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Oral D. and Edna E. (Vaught) Godbey. She married Franz H. Burton on October 8, 1963 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2022.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet Dick of Bethel Ridge, Kentucky, Sondra (Johnny) Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana, Cynthia Goff of Taylorsville, Indiana, Lisa (Greg) Johnson of Bedford, Indiana, and Becky (Chris) Marcum of Salem, Indiana, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, brother, Marvin (Susan) Godbey of Argyle, Kentucky, and sister, Mathel (Harold) Acey of Eubank, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Tarenna Jo Bryant, grandson, Charles “Chuckie” Goff, Jr, and brother, David Ray Godbey.
Mavis was a member of the Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. She was a nurse’s aide at the former Brown’s Nursing Home in Edinburgh. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, painting pictures, BINGO, and bowling.
A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Randy Denton at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church. Calling will be from noon until time of service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
