Greiwe named to IBCA Supreme 15

Koryn Greiwe, who led Columbus East to the Hoosier Hills Conference girls basketball championship in becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer, has been named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-State Supreme 15 team.

Jennings County sophomore Juliann Woodard made the Underclass All-State Supreme 15. East junior Saige Stahl made the Underclass Large School All-State team, and Trinity Lutheran junior Bailey Tabeling made the Underclass Small School All-State squad.

Columbus North’s Kylah Lawson made the Senior honorable mention list. East junior Leah Bachmann and Jennings sophomore Alivia Elmore made the Underclass honorable mention list.

Cooper named 3A Coach of Year

Chris Cooper, who led Columbus East to the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Class 3A state duals title, has been named 3A Coach of the Year by the IHSWCA.

Meanwhile, East junior Liam Krueger and seniors Noah Lykins and Tristan Statler have been named IHSWCA Senior Academic All-State. East’s Mitchell Williams, Tommy Morrill and Jordan Sutton and Columbus North’s Cody Thurnall have made Junior Academic All-State.

East’s Reece Fisher, Kenton Wilson and Kade Law are on the Senior Academic All-State honorable mention list. North’s Liam Phillips made Junior Academic All-State honorable mention.

Johnson named Player of Week

South Decatur senior Hunter Johnson has been selected the IBCA District 3 Boys Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Johnson collected 29 points and 10 rebounds in a 64-55 win at Oldenburg Academy. He then recorded 39 points, 19 rebounds and four steals in Friday’s 77-55 win against Knightstown.

Locals selected All-MHC

Six local players, including three from Mid-Hoosier Conference champion Edinburgh, have been named to the All-MHC boys basketball team.

Edinburgh’s Caleb Dewey, Travis Jones and Jarrett Turner made the first team, along with South Decatur’s Hunter Johnson and Jacob Scruggs and Hauser’s Bryce Bates. Hauser’s Eli Miller and Koby Johnson made honorable mention.

Abner headed to Carthage

Columbus North senior Bryce Abner has committed to continue his football career at Carthage College.

Abner led the Bull Dogs with 94 tackles and had two sacks and one interception in helping them to a Conference Indiana title.

Sectional hosts assigned

Columbus East and Columbus North will play their sectional baseball and softball games at Bloomington North this year.

The IHSAA released tournament sites for baseball, softball, boys golf, girls tennis and Unified track on Wednesday. Boys and girls track will be released at a later date.

East, North and Hauser still will play in the boys golf sectional at Greensburg and the girls tennis sectional at North. East and North will be in the Unified track sectional at Bloomington North.

Hauser will continue to travel to Jac-Cen-Del for baseball and Rising Sun for softball.
