Charles Wayne Brown, 83, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Brown County Health and Living. He was born March 30, 1938 in Bartholomew County to parents Verle and Helen Brown.
Charlie was a long-time member of Old Union United Church of Christ. He retired from Sonoco after 42 years and served in the United States National Guard for 38 years.
He married Barbara Jean Brown on May 11, 1997 and she preceded him in death on October 17, 2021.
Charlie enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and he loved being outdoors.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristy (David) Smith; grandchildren, Brandon (Angel) and Kayla (Alex) Dunbar; Jammie and Tyler Gassaway; sisters, Ann Clemmons and Marilyn (Joe) Harmon; brother in law, Gary Owens; step-daughters, Pat (T.) Riherd, Paula (Levi I) Brown, Pam (Bill) McAnelly, and Penny (Kenny Turner) Mouser; and several step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Jean Brown; daughter, Teri Brown; and sister, Ginny Owens.
A funeral service for Charlie will be held Wednesday, March 16, at 1 pm at Myers-Reed Chapel. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery.
Friends may gather for visitation from 10 am to the time of the service on Wednesday.
