SEYMOUR, INDIANA
Ferrell “Buck” E. Jones, 87, of Seymour, formerly of Columbus, passed from this life at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022, at his home.
Mr. Jones was born in Ewing, Indiana, September 5, 1934, the son of the late Aden E. and Vera E. Weaver Jones. On October 9, 1983, Buck married Betty A. Humphress; she preceded him in death September 8, 2020.
Early in life, Mr. Jones worked at Arvin Industries and later retired from Cummins Engine Company after several years of service. He then was a bus driver at Developmental Services Inc. Mr. Jones always enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and woodworking.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Raymond (Teri) Jones of Seymour, Jeffrey Jones of Seymour, and Susan Jones of Retreat, Indiana; stepdaughter, Geneva Humphress of Columbus; grandchildren, Steven (Angela) Jones, Ryan (Amanda) Jones, and Aaron Humphress; siblings, Midge Fields of Freetown, Dwight (Judy) Jones of Brownstown, Ed (Kathy) Jones of Freetown, Sharon (David) Arthur of Seymour, Cheryl Fields of Brownstown, and Howard (Beth) Jones of Brownstown; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Aden and Vera Jones; children, Cindy Phillips and Paul Jones; brothers, Vernon, Dave, Aden, and Tom Jones; and a sister, Deloris Wheeler.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Jones will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Garland Brook Cemetery.
