Thirteen Club Olympia Swim Team athletes traveled to Elkhart last weekend to compete in the Indiana Swimming Senior State Short Course Championship against more than 700 of the best swimmers from Indiana representing 70 club teams. The Open championship was primarily for swimmers 15 years an older who met qualifying time standards, with select Age Group level swimmers 14 years and younger who met the time standards also competing.
By the close of the four-day meet, Club Olympia finished 15th overall. The Club Olympia girls finished ninth, led by Ashley Freel, who won her first state title in the Women’s 200-yard freestyle and extended Club Olympia’s record of having at least one state champion each year (other than 2020, due to COVID cancelling all championship meets) since its formation in 2016.
