COLUMBUS
Freda J. Huckaby Brown, 92, of Columbus, passed from this life on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 8:42 a.m. at Keepsake Village of Columbus.
Mrs. Brown was born on December 1, 1929, in Salina, Tennessee the daughter of John York and Myrtle Matthews Davis. She married Olen Huckaby in June 1948 and then Jess Brown in July 1981.
She retired from Cosco Inc after many years of service, upon her retirement she went on to work at DSI. She was a member of Triumphant Baptist Church and was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs Baseball fan. She loved to play bingo, crochet and do quilting, but above all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Catherine) Huckaby of Columbus, grandchildren, Jon (Kelly) Huckaby of South Carolina, Josh (Regan) Littrell of Columbus, Dawn (Clint) Smith of Seymour; great grandchildren, Alexius Huckaby, Zoee Huckaby, Braden Huckaby, Rori Huckaby, Isabelle Huckaby, Morgan Huckaby, Ryan Huckaby, Brookalyn Dewey, Carson Littrell, Will Littrell, and Teddy Littrell; and longtime friend, Oren Lazzell.
She was preceded in death by parents; her two husbands; daughter, Pamela Rager; grandson, Shawn Huckaby; brothers, Vernon Davis and Gustis Davis; and sisters, Gladys Green and Laura Mize.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.
Family and friends may call for visitation on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. till time of services at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to Keepsake Village of Columbus or to the Dementia Society of America.
