A local man was arrested on several charges after he was accused of fleeing from the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Saturday night.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., CPD officers responded to a report of an accident near 10th Street and Iowa Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

After arriving at the scene of the crash, the officers were informed that one of the drivers, who was later identified as Shane D. Wilson, 25, of 4504 W. County Road 500S, had fled the crash scene on foot, Harris said. Officers located Wilson a short time later on 10th Street and noted that he had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath as well as minor injuries from the crash, police said.

Wilson was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for medical treatment. While at the hospital, officers applied for and later received a warrant for a blood draw after Wilson refused to cooperate with the DUI investigation, Harris said.

Wilson was later placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on the following preliminary charges:

Operating a vehicle while intoxicated (endangerment)

Intimidation

Leaving the scene of an accident

Wilson was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $16,000 bond.
