Bull Dogs blank Saline

WESTFIELD — Will Baker took a perfect game into the seventh inning Wednesday night, and Columbus North opened its season with a 6-0 win against Saline (Michigan).

Baker, who had 13 strikeouts, walked the first two batters and then allowed a hit in the seventh. Zach Wager came on to record three consecutive strikeouts to end it.

Dyllan Redmon

Dyllan Redmon went 3 for 4 with triple and two RBIs to lead the Bull Dogs’ 12-hit attack. Baker, Luke Harmon and Zack McLean all went 2 for 4.

Jets fall to Bears

SHELBYVILLE — Shelbyville scored eight times in the first two innings and went on to hand Hauser a 12-1, five-inning defeat in the Jets’ season opener.

Koby Johnson and Holden Pittman combined on a five-hitter, but Hauser was plagued by five errors. Simeon Wasil had a double, and Caleb Walker had a single for the lone Jet hits.

Panthers open with win

NORTH VERNON — Jacob Vogel threw a four-hitter to lead Jennings County to a 10-0 season-opening win against Austin.

Carson McNulty went 2 for 2 with a double, Logan McIntosh went 2 for 3 with a triple and Austin Martin went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Panthers. Matt Hines had a home run and two RBIs, and Cole Sigler had a triple and two RBIs.

Warriors top Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County opened its season with a 15-0, five-inning loss to Scottsburg.

Kailey Buccos and Abigail Watson had singles for the lone hits for the Eagles.
