Student orchestra to present concert tonight

The local student Okto Carmonia Orchestra will present its free, spring partly children’s-oriented concert at 6 p.m. today, April 2, at Garden City Christian Church, 3245 Jonesville Road in Columbus. The 28-member ensemble, led by student Carlos Lopez, will include guest musicians such as trumpet player Keith Burton and other professionals.

Lauri Wood, a professional pianist and the director of the Woodbridge Academy of in Martinsville, will perform. Natalie Cantu will be a guest singer.

The program will feature two movements from Saint-Saens’ “The Carnival of the Animals,” the classic “Jesus Loves Me,” George Friderick Handel’s “Concerto Grossi No. 1,” Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Symphony No. 7 and two marches by Richard Strauss.
