Letter: Vote for Josh Scherschel for tough, fair prosecutor

From: Ted Adams, Brown County Prosecutor

Columbus

A few years ago, I met an individual while at our annual Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council Winter Conference. IPAC, as it is known, functions among other things as an advisory arm to all 91 Indiana prosecuting attorneys and their offices. We receive our annual updates and critical training; we also have an opportunity to meet and network with other prosecutors across the State of Indiana. It was here that I met Joshua K. Scherschel. I immediately was impressed with both his vigor for prosecution and his love for his country, having served in the military long before choosing to become an attorney. At the time, Josh was a deputy prosecuting attorney for Jackson County, and he was doing an excellent job. He was born and raised in Bartholomew County, though, and expressed a desire to work in his home county. Years later, he was able to join the ranks of the Bartholomew County prosecutor’s office and to serve citizens of his home community.

As the Brown County prosecuting attorney, I have had the opportunity to professionally work with Josh. Oftentimes, Bartholomew County and Brown County need special prosecuting attorneys for cases that may pose a conflict of interest for that county’s respective prosecutor; Brown County is a natural pick for Bartholomew County conflicts, and vice-versa. Josh and I have had our fair share of special prosecutor cases, and I can tell the citizens of Bartholomew County that Josh does not shy away from the tough cases. He is not afraid to pursue justice, and he possesses the passion, character, and skill needed to be Bartholomew County’s elected prosecuting attorney. He is tough, but he is fair. His sense of Hoosier justice is no doubt born from his Bartholomew County upbringing and fine-tuned by his decades of military service to our great country.

In serving both his county as a deputy prosecutor and his country as an active military veteran, Joshua K. Scherschel will be a dedicated and inspired choice for Bartholomew County prosecuting attorney on May 3, 2022.
