Jets no-hit Chargers

GREENSBURG — Koby Johnson threw his second no-hitter of the season Tuesday to lead Hauser to a 13-0, five-inning Mid-Hoosier Conference win at North Decatur.

Johnson struck out 11 and walked five. He also had a double and three RBIs at the plate.

Simeon Wasil went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, and Grant Louden went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Jets (9-8, 7-1), who pounded out 11 hits. Sam Miller went 2 for 4.

East gets no-hitter in loss

INDIANAPOLIS — Three Columbus East pitchers combined on a no-hitter, but the Olympians fell to Southport 5-4.

Alex McComb, Rolan Ryan and Harry Major combined to strike out four and allow no hits and eight walks. Blake Borkhardt went 3 for 4 for East (6-10-1), which managed 10 hits.

Bears edge Bull Dogs

SHELBYVILLE — Columbus North led 3-1 after five innings, but Shelbyville scored two in the sixth and one in the seventh to pull out a 4-3 win.

Zach Wager had three hits, including a double for the Bull Dogs (11-3-2). Trent Bodart and Dillon James each had two hits, and Zach McLean had two RBIs.

Bull Dogs sweep Braves

BLOOMINGTON — No. 3 Columbus North dropped only 11 games in the five matches in rolling to a 5-0 win against Terre Haute South in a Conference Indiana match played at Bloomington North.

Ashlie Wilson beat Sarah Rowe 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Kathryn Wilson blanked Samhita Shantharam 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Aya Saad downed Briley Ireland 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (8-2, 3-0).

North’s Tiffany Fu and Leah George topped Ayden Zinkovich and Savannah Semmler 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Annabelle Sun and Sydney Cooper defeated Jordan Miller and Sydney Williams 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Jets slip past Saints

HOPE — Hauser pulled out a three-set win at No. 2 doubles to claim a 3-2 victory against Indianapolis Lutheran.

Bella Kilps beat Cat Erwin 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Lydia Jordan topped Katie Roe 6-0, 7-6 at No. 2 singles for the Jets (5-5). Mattie Foster and Piper Rowell defeated Dani Taylor and Cece Awrey 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Hauser’s Addyson Barriger fell to Ella Wiegand 7-5, 7-6 at No. 2 singles. Charlie Clark and Gabby Johns lost to Malin Bullock and Rachel Bolton 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Panthers fall to Owls

NORTH VERNON — Seymour won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 victory at Jennings County.

Tatum Brown beat Madalyn Baurle 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (7-7).

Jennings’ Reagan Brown fell to Brooke Schafstall 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Mia Silvey lost to Elise Hartung 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Maria Alberti and Lucy Brown fell to Ashley Clemente and Caroline Thompson 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Amy Vogel and Caitlyn Schuck lost to Jessica Hougland and Addison Hunsley 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Lancers nip Spartans

SHELBYVILLE — Edinburgh swept the singles matches to claim a 3-2 MHC win at Southwestern (Shelby).

Bethany Burton beat Lauryn Blondell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Jessica Walsh topped Ella Rice 6-0, 7-5 and No. 2 singles and Peyton Bryant defeated McKinze Belton 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers (4-4).

Edinburgh’s Alyssa Funkhouser and Jillian Turner fell to Brooke Schneider and Kyla Robertson 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Zoey Sida and Gracie Myers lost to Faith Kelley and McKinley Correll 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

BOYS GOLF

East wins tri match

SEYMOUR — Pierce Arnholt won medalist honors with a 38 to lead Columbus East to a tri-match win at Shadowood.

The Olympians finished with a 166 team total. New Albany took second with a 172, and host Seymour was third with a 180.

J.T. Kuhlman added a 42 for East. Carter Greene and Spencer Erfmeier each shot 43, and Ben Luedeke had a 49.

Eagles outscore Patriots

GOSPORT — Brown County picked up a 189-199 win against Owen Valley at Rolling Meadows.

Cooper VanNess led the Eagles with a 41. Kody Walsh carded a 45, Eli Sichting added a 51, Clay Austin shot 52, Wesley Arndt had a 54 and Liam Cassiday finished with a 58.

Jets rout Rushville

RUSHVILLE — Class A No. 4 Hauser pounded out 23 hits in a 12-3 win at Rushville.

Kylie Mack went 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Jets (12-2-1). Lucie Asher went 3 for 4, Izzy Brunner went 3 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs, Hannah Taylor went 3 for 5 with three RBIs, Maley Jordan went 3 for 5, winning pitcher Paige McDaniel went 2 for 2, Haylin Campbell went 2 for 4 and Kyra Meister went 2 for 5.

East falls to Bulldogs

Columbus East led 6-5 after four innings, but New Albany scored five times in the fifth and held on for a 12-9 Hoosier Hills Conference win.

Kenzie Foster went 2 for 3 for the Olympians (6-12-1, 0-3). Addy Ross had a double and two RBIs.

Panthers blank Hornets

NORTH VERNON — Kenzie Matern threw a three-hitter, and Delaynee McCreary went 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs to lead Jennings County to a 10-0, five-inning win against Henryville.

Alexis Carson went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Panthers (8-9). Grace George went 2 for 3, and Matern went 2 for 4.

Trinity tops Lancers

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran scored eight times in the bottom of the sixth to overcome a 1-0 deficit and went on to post an 8-2 victory.

Kamzi Gross threw a four-hitter and struck out 12 for the Cougars (9-7).

Gracie Crawhorn went 2 for 3 with a home run for the Lancers (7-6). MacKenzie Bieker threw a four-hitter and struck out 15.

South Decatur falls

GREENSBURG — Greensburg took advantage of 10 South Decatur errors in handing the Cougars a 12-2, six-inning defeat.

Loryn Pate went 2 for 3 for South Decatur (3-10). Lakota Henry had a double and two RBIs and allowed only two earned runs in 5-plus innings in the circle.
