North clinches title share

Third-ranked Columbus North clinched at least a share of the Conference Indiana title Tuesday with a 5-0 win against Bloomington South

Ashlie Wilson blanked Brian O’Neal 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Bull Dogs (8-2, 3-0). Kathryn Wilson beat Hailey VanDeventer at No. 2 singles, and Aya Saad topped Ava Rupp at No. 3 singles, both by 6-0, 6-1 scores.

North’s Tiffany Fu and Leah George downed Riley Walker and Maddie Santer 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Annabelle Sun and Sydney Cooper defeated Caitlin Heim and Chelsie Lindauer 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Panthers blank Braves

BROWNSTOWN — Jennings County won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Brownstown Central.

Reagan Brown beat Avan McKinney 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Tatum Brown topped Brynn Burton 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Mia Silvey downed Leah Pottschmidt 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (8-7).

Jennings’ Maria Ecker Alberti and Lucy Brown beat Hannah Hackman and Chelsea Luedeman 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Caitlyn Shuck and Amy Vogel defeated Kaitlyn Williams and Bella Brown 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Lancers slip past Owls

SEYMOUR — Edinburgh pulled out a three-set win at No. 1 doubles to claim a 3-2 victory at Seymour.

Bethany Burton beat Ava Sunbury at No. 1 singles, and Jessica Walsh topped Avery Musgrave at No. 2 singles, both by 6-1, 6-0 scores for the Panthers (5-4). Alyssa Funkhouser and Jillian Turner defeated Hiley Obermeyer andCarley Sanders 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.

Edinburgy’s Izzy Richardson fell to Audrey Newkirk 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Zoey Sida and Gracie Myers lost to Marlo Cornn and Tori Fee 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Eagles edge Vikings

WEST TERRE HAUTE — Brown County claimed a three-set win at No. 1 doubles to pull out a 3-2 Western Indiana Conference win at West Vigo.

Mattie Satter beat Lilli Weir 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (8-4). Katie Tipton and Mia Bowman topped Abigail Meeharle and Maddie Bradbury 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Julia Burt and Mary Rygiel defeated Perslie Stewart and Allie LaSecki 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Brown County’s Anna Stogsdill fell to Ellie Eastern 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Anna Tipton lost to Avery LaSecki 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

Olympians sweep Eagles

Columbus East swept a dual meet from Brown County, winning the boys meet 87-44 and the girls meet 109-23.

Anthony Lloyd won the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches) and long jump (21-1 1/4), Jacob Guse took the shot put (46-9 1/2) and discus (137-7), Henrique Carvalho captured the 110-meter hurdles (16.37 seconds) and 300 hurdles (43.05) and and Rocco Duffy won the 100 (11.60) and 200 (23.11) to lead the Olympian boys. Gavin Edgecomb won the pole vault (11-0), Tommy Anderson took the 400 (54.74) and East captured the 4×100 (45.13) and 4×400 (3:38.60) relays.

The Eagles got wins in the distance events with its 4×800 relay (9:02.95), Chase Austin in the 1,600 (4:42.57), Rhett Silbaugh in the 800 (2:10.19) and Cord Smith in the 3,200 (11:06.18).

Megan Tracy won the shot (32-3 1/2) and discus (110-1), and Emma Gray took the 100 (12.89) and 300 hurdles (49.76) to lead the Olympian girls. Other winner for East were Gabbie Meier in the pole vault (8-0), Imisi Omoseyin in the long jump (14-10 1/2), Norah Dwenger in the 400 (1:05.27), Mallory Rupp in the 200 (28.07) and Chloe Krueger in the 3,200 (13:07.17). The Olympians also swept the 4×800 (11:46.92), 4×100 (52.86) and 4×400 (4:27.82) relays.

Hadley Gradolf led Brown County with wins in the 1,600 (5:45.36) and 800 (2:33.76). Xyleigh Thompson took thre high jump (4-10), and Ali Majors captured the 100 hurdles (18.97).

Panthers sweep Cubs

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County swept a dual meet from Madison with the Panther boys winning 95-37 and the girls prevailing 68-64.

Branden Braun won the long jump, 100 and 200, while Peyton Hayden took the shot and discus and Cole Marksberry captured the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles to lead the Jennings boys. Kraedyn Young won the 1,600, Aidan Ernstes took the 3,200 and the Panthers swept the 4×800, 4×100 and 4×400 relays.

Sasha Hicks won the high jump and 400, and Rachael Manning took the 100 and 200 to lead the Jennings girls. Cheyeanna Leslie captured the shot, Emily Baugess won the 100 hurdles, Trinity Burke took the 300 hurdles and the Panthers captured the 4×400 relay.

Cougar teams take second

GREENSBURG — South Decatur’s boys and girls both finished second in the Decatur County met. Greensburg won the boys meet with 74 points to 52 for the Cougars and 30 for North Decatur, and Greensburg took the girls meet with 64 1/2 points to 58 for South Decatur and 25 1/2 for North Decatur.

McKinley Shook won the 110 hurdles (16.7) and 200 (23.7) to lead the Cougar boys. Kelby Shook took the 400 (54.1).

For the girls, Paige Hibberd won the high jump (4-10), Maria Nobbe took the 300 hurdles (51.6) and South Decatur captured the 4×100 relay (54.7).

SOFTBALL

Olympians fall to Cubs

Columbus East pounded out 15 hits, but gave up 16 hits in a 16-7 loss to Madison.

Kaylee Cole went 3 for 3 with a double, and Megan Kennedy went 3 for 4 for the Olympians (6-13-1). Addy Ross went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, Kaylee Smith went 2 for 3, Savanna Sullivan went 2 for 4 with a double and Jayla Mullins went 2 for 4.

Owls nip Panthers

SEYMOUR — Jennings County outhit Seymour 7-6, but the Owls claimed a 2-1 Hoosier Hills Conference win.

Kenzie Matern went 2 for 4 with two doubles and threw a six-hitter for the Panthers (8-10).

Jackets rally past Cougars

MORRISTOWN — Morristown scored six times in the bottom of the seventh to rally for a 10-9 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against South Decatur.

Lakota Henry went 3 for 3 for the Cougars (3-11, 1-3). Kassidy Haley went 2 for 3 with a double, and Lydia Witkemper had two RBIs.

Vikings stop Eagles

NASHVILLE — West Vigo built a 6-0 lead and went on to post a 7-2 WIC win at Brown County.

Ally Hash went 3 for 3 for the Eagles (1-10, 1-5). Savannah Oden went 2 for 3 with a home run.

Trinity tops Clarksville

SEYMOUR — Grace Lance and Kamzi Gross combined on a two-hitter to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 13-1, five-inning win against Clarksville.

Lance also had three hits, and Dianna Munoz had two hits and three RBIs for the Cougars (8-6). Bailey Tabeling had two hits, and Taylar Hobbs added two RBIs.

BOYS GOLF

Panthers win tri match

SEYMOUR — Jennings County won a tri match at Shadowood. The Panthers scored a 193 to 203 for Hauser and 207 for Trinity Lutheran.

Jack George led the Panthers with a 46. Jake Grider carded a 47, Tanner Stearns added a 49, Rowan Cook shot 51 and Davey Shaw had a 52.

Chase Martoccia led the Jets with a 44. Caleb Wallace carded a 48. Zach Weichman added a 54, Brenden Burton shot 57 and Ben Johnson had a 60.

BASEBALL

Panthers down Knights

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the fifth in a 7-3 win against South Dearborn.

Austin Byford went 2 for 2, Jacob Vogel went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, Cole Sigler went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Lane Zohrlaut went 2 for 3 with two doubles and Logan McIntosh went 2 for 4 with a home run for the Panthers (15-6). Carson McNulty went the final five innings to pick up the win on the mound.

Cougars overcome Jackets

MORRISTOWN — South Decatur battled back from an 8-2 deficit with seven runs in the fifth inning to pull out a 9-8 MHC win at Morristown.

Avery Seegers went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Cameron Henderson went 2 for 3 and Devin Pate went 2 for 4 for the Cougars (14-2, 7-0). Pate and winning pitcher Evan Wullenweber cominbed on a six-hitter.

Eagles fall to Vikings

NASHVILLE — West Vigo scored seven times in the first inning Monday and went on to hand Brown County a 26-0, five-inning WIC defeat.

Jade Woolems had the lone hit for the Eagles (1-9, 0-6).
