Olympians fall to Stars

BEDFORD — Bedford North Lawrence won four matches in straight sets, and the No. 1 singles match was called because of rain in the Stars’ 4-0 victory against Columbus East on Friday.

Ruth Federle fell to Naudia Anderson 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, and Betsy Hoene lost to Italy Lewis 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Olympians (1-11). East’s Shruthika Kumar and Katey Rieckers fell to Bella Stigall and Mallory Pride 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Adyson States and Caroline Emerick lost to Kenley Craig and Izzy Alldredge 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

The Olympians’ Katie Hong and BNL’s Rachel Kidd split sets at No. 1 singles, but were unable to play the tiebreaker because of wet courts.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Columbus routs Whiteland

Elaine Sanders netted five goals Friday to lead Columbus to a 12-1 win against Whiteland.

Rylie Boezeman and Kasey Kelley each scored three goals for Columbus. Meghan Ives had one goal and two assists, and Jayden Cross added three assists.

Claire King recorded four saves.

BOYS LACROSSE

Panthers top Columbus

Four different Columbus players scored goals Thursday, but Bloomington South came away with a 9-4 victory.

Owen Barkes, Evan Federle, Lucas Fedewa and Christian Ortega netted the goals for Columbus. Fedewa and Naren Harianth had assists.

Brayson Bennett posted 14 saves.
