IUPUC commencement to be in-person event

IUPUC is returning to a more traditional commencement ceremony this year, with friends and family able to attend the event in person on campus.

IUPUC’s 2022 graduation will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

The ceremony will be held outdoors at the local campus at the Columbus Learning Center, with the stage and seating located in a parking lot at the corner of Arnold and Kelly streets. Per the school’s graduation website, tickets are not required.

“We are pleased to be able to include guests in our celebration this year,” said Vice Chancellor and Dean Reinhold Hill. The school held an in-person ceremony in 2021, but attendance was limited to graduates only. A virtual option was available for guests.

Grandstand seating will be available for guests at the 2022 ceremony, and Hill said that students will each receive five wristbands for the grandstands.

According to the school’s graduation website, overflow guests are encourage to bring lawn seating.

Additionally, Hill said that there will not be any COVID-19 protocols in place for the ceremony.

This year’s commencement recognizes both undergraduate and graduate students. There are 239 students receiving bachelor’s degrees, and 41 have earned master’s degrees.
