East falls to Cougars

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus East and Bloomington North were tied 3-3 after four innings Wednesday, but the Cougars scored eight runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to post a 13-3, six-inning victory.

Ethan Ianni went 2 for 3 for the Olympians (10-14-1).

Trinity wins quad

LACONIA — Jacob Sabotin won medalist honors with a 36 to lead Trinity Lutheran to a quad-match win Tuesday at Chariot Run. The Cougars scored a 177 to 198 for Paoli, 218 for South Central and 237 for West Washington.

Kade Hill added a 43 for Trinity. Preston Kovener and Caleb Williams each shot 49.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Panthers take fifth

SEYMOUR — Jennings County qualified in four events, and Trinity Lutheran made it in for Tuesday’s Bloomington North Regional.

The Panthers finished fifth in Tuesday’s Seymour Sectional with 63 points, while the Cougars were 11th with 13 points. Seymour won with 127 5/6.

Jennings’ Cheyeanna Leslie finished third in the discus (107 feet, 11 inches), and Rachael Manning took third in the 200 meters (27.64 seconds). The Panthers also were third in the 4×800 relay (11:04.87), and Sasha Hicks received a call-back after finishing fourth in the high jump (4-10).

Trinity’s Emalee Goss placed second in the high jump (5-2).

Meanwhile, three Brown County girls qualified for the Bloomington North Regional through Tuesday’s Bloomington North Sectional. Christy Sebastian won the 300 hurdles (48.62), Hadley Gradolf finished third in both the 1,600 (5:33.63) and 3,200 (11:49.97) and Xyleigh Thompson tied for third in the high jump (4-10).

Brown County finished seventh as a team with 32 1/2 points. Bloomington North won with 167 1/2.
