Sharrell J. “Sherry” Mattox, 79, of Columbus, died at 7:53 a.m., May 28th, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Sherry was born February 7, 1943 in North Vernon, the daughter of Lowell and Katherine (Dickerson) Mooney. She married Jon Mattox on February 10, 1963. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2002.
Sherry loved her family, reading books, cats, puzzles and playing cards. Sherry was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The funeral will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Lowell Mooney officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Lung Institute through the funeral home.
Survivors include daughters, Maria Lyn (Tracy) Ruffin and Tina Hill both of Columbus; a sister, Linda (Bill) Lacefield of Franklin; brothers, Lowell (Joyce) Mooney Jr. of Lacey, WA and Chris Mooney of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Quentin (Joanna Lee) Hill, Craig Hill, Harley Carmer, Kyle (Morgan Jones) Carmer; great-grandchildren, Aleigha Hill, Jon Hill, Anthony Mattox, Jaxon Carmer and Payton Hobson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and grandchildren, Anthony Mattox and Shaylynne Hill and Scott Michael Hill.
