North Vernon driver arrested after report of stolen vehicle

Jeffrey Linville

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a North Vernon man Friday after they were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the area of East State Road 7 and U.S. 31.

Deputy Dylan Prather located the vehicle at 7251 E. State Road 7. When the vehicle left that location, a felony traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of East State Street and State Road 46.

With the assistance of Columbus police officers and sheriff’s department K9, Fizko, the driver, identified as Jeffrey Linville, 59, North Vernon, was taken into custody without incident, deputies said.

The dog alerted officers to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle where suspected methamphetamine and drug-related paraphernalia were found, deputies said.

Linville was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of vehicle theft, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia, jail officials said. Linville has since been released from jail, according to jail records.
