BUTLERVILLE
Joyce Marie Koelmel, 85, of Butlerville, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Autumn Trace Assisted Living.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Risen Savior Baptist Church. Rev. Mitch Herald will officiate. Burial will be in the Butlerville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the start of the service on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Church. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are in charge of the arrangements.
Born on March 15, 1937, in Anderson, Indiana, Joyce was the loving daughter of Alva Leroy and Zelma Fern Hull. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Lee Koelmel at the Vernon Baptist Church on May 5, 1957. He preceded her in death.
Joyce grew up on her Grandpa Hull’s farm near Zenas where she attended the Zenas Elementary School. She later graduated from North Vernon High School in 1955. She worked as a secretary for the North Vernon Elementary School after graduation, before becoming a stay at home mother for her three children. Joyce served on the Jennings County School Board and was a board member for the Indiana Farm Bureau Association. She also was a board member of the Township Trustees and on the Advisory Board for Bigger and Campbell Townships. Joyce also coached youth softball and enjoyed bowling with her many friends. She worked for Crosley Fish and Wildlife for 24 years. Joyce loved animals, nature, and living in the country. She loved her family and friends more than anything. She always had a big smile and a funny story to tell. Her life was all about making memories and cherishing all the time spent with those she loved dearly. She always had fond memories and took great pride in all her accomplishments throughout her wonderful life.
Survivors include daughters, Kathy Lynn (David) McKalip of Butlerville, and Karen Ann (Tom) Schneider of North Vernon; son, Lloyd Dale (Jeanie) Koelmel of Butlerville; sisters, Annabelle Pickett, and Phyllis Heaton both of North Vernon; brother, Donald (Rebecca) Hull of Butlerville; grandchildren, Kristina (Chris) Hunt, Kyle (Rachel) Schneider, Chase (Halie) Schneider, and Cameron (Emma Bishop) Schneider, Karmin Koelmel, and Kalieb (Samantha) Koelmel; great grandchildren, Claire, Cruze, Keegan, Annsley, Brady, Henry, Erich, Carsen, and Will.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Zelma Hull; husband, Lloyd Koelmel.
