CFD announces retirement, promotion

The Columbus Fire Department has announced the retirement of a longtime lieutenant and his successor.

Lt. Bryan Brown retired on July 10 after 27 years of service with the department. He retires from his last assignment as the C-Shift Lieutenant of Fire Station 5 and is succeeded by Firefighter Daniel Acree, who has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

Brown obtained his paramedic certification in 2002 also served on the department’s hazardous material team. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2015.

Acree begins his service as assigned as the C-Shift lieutenant of Fire Station 5 after joining the department in 2008. Acree obtained a paramedic certification in 2014 and a hazardous materials technician certification in 2015.
