Driver arrested on multiple charges after traffic stop

Columbus police officers arrested a Muncie man on multiple charges after a traffic stop on Monday afternoon. At approximately 4:20 p.m., CPD officers stopped a vehicle for a minor violation near Ninth Street and Franklin Street.

The officers spoke with the vehicle’s occupants who appeared visibly nervous. The officers searched a bag near where the front seat passenger, Gregory A. Easterly, 41, was previously seated in the vehicle. Inside the bag, the officers located methamphetamine, marijuana, and Xanax.

Easterly was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the following preliminary charges:

  • Possession of methamphetamine (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of a controlled substance (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of a legend drug (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of marijuana (Class B misdemeanor)

Easterly was being held in jail in lieu of $76,000 bond, jail officials said.
