Elmer “Andy” Anderson

Elmer “Andy” Anderson, 91, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 in Topeka, Indiana. Andy was born December 28, 1930 in Cadillac, Michigan.

He served four years in the United States Air Force and graduated from Indiana State University. He married Neva Catherine in 1956 and she preceded him in death in 2012. After moving to Columbus, he worked for many years as an office manager at Public Service Indiana, now known as Duke Energy.

Andy was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church. He was a history buff and was very knowledgeable about World War II and the Civil War. He enjoyed stamp collecting, bird watching, and was a dedicated fan of Michigan football.

Andy is survived by his sons, Brian (Laura) Anderson and Brock Anderson; five grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Neva; son, Bruce Anderson; grandson, Brian Anderson; three brothers; and one sister.

A funeral service for Andy will be held Thursday, July 28 at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Isbell officiating. Entombment will follow at Garland Brook Mausoleum will military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard. Friends may gather for visitation on Wednesday, July 27 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel. Memorial donations in Elmer’s name may be made to the Wounded

Warrior Project.
