County youth advance to State Fair tractor competition

Eight Bartholomew County youth qualified for the 4-H Junior Tractor, Lawn & Garden Tractor and Zero-Turn Radius Mower Operator Contest at the Indiana State Fair starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10.

The Bartholomew County 4-Hers participating at the state contest are: Luke Lienhoop, junior lawn and garden; Weston Romine and Brody Kirkland, senior lawn and garden; Owen Martin and Owen Arnholt, junior zero turn mower; Jenna Boewe and Corbin Arnholt, senior zero turn mower; and Clayton Reedy, junior ag tractor.

They advanced to the state competition after competing July 30 in the Area 1 contest in Greensburg, in which 4-H’ers from nine counties in southeastern Indiana tested their knowledge of safety and maintenance, parts identification, and their driving skills through a prescribed course.
