COLUMBUS, Ind. — A new state law will limit the number of eLearning days the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. can use to make up snow days.

The school corporation had previously adopted a policy of using eLearning on its first five “inclement weather” days of the year, with anything more than that made up in person. However, House Bill 1093 which was signed into law by Gov. Eric Holcomb in March of 2022 and went into effect in July limits schools to three eLearning days per year unless certain standards are met.

As a result, BCSC plans to amend its calendar so that it will now use three eLearning days to make up inclement weather instead of the previous five.

Superintendent Jim Roberts explained the change at Monday’s school board meeting, and the board will vote on it on Sept. 12.
