Two arrested after early-morning traffic stop

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested two people on drug-related charges after a traffic stop at 1:14 a.m. Thursday in the 3000 block of West Jonathan Moore Pike.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Billy Bryant initiated the stop, and while deputies were speaking with Jason Lee, 44, Russell Springs, Kentucky, and Marissa Rose Shockey, 42, Russell Springs, Kentucky, a BCSO K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Deputies located a large amount of drugs, drug-related items and approximately $8,900 cash.

After learning that additional narcotics were in a hotel where the couple were staying, deputies located another large amount of drugs and drug-related items.

Lee was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of:

Possession of methamphetamine

Dealing marijuana

Possession of marijuana

Possession of controlled substance

Possession of a legend drug

Lee remains in jail in lieu of $78,500 bond, jail officials said.

Shockey was arrested on preliminary charges of:

Dealing marijuana

Possession of marijuana

Possession of controlled substance

Possession of legend drug

She remains in jail in lieu of $21,000 bond, jail officials said.
