Multiple police agencies respond to medical emergency for Taylorsville student

TAYLORSVILLE — Multiple police agencies and ambulances responded to a report of an 11-year-old student not breathing at Taylorsville Elementary School at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers said a sheriff deputy, Sgt. Justin Arnholt, was doing a safety security check at the school when the incident was reported and immediately rendered aid to the student, who was semi-conscious when first responders arrived.

Josh Burnett, communications coordinator for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp., said that the student was transferred to Columbus Regional Hospital and family members have been contacted. He added that school officials were grateful for local agencies’ response to the incident.
