Carolyn Ginnings

COLUMBUS

Born Carolyn Adelaide Fillius to Maurice (Fil) and Frances Fillius in 1935 in the District of Columbia, Carolyn attended Woodrow Wilson High School and then Cornell University, returning to the District to attend Washington School for Secretaries. She married Bob Ginnings in 1958 and left the workplace to raise her children and run the household. Carolyn was active in her childrens’ schools and with Bluebirds, and was an avid tennis player into her 70s. A wonderful hostess with an infectious smile, she and Bob spent much of their retirement boating and enjoying the Chesapeake Bay with their Labrador retrievers. After her diagnosis with Alzheimer’s Disease, she and Bob moved in 2019 to Columbus, IN, to be close to family. Carolyn passed away peacefully at home on September 8th.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Bob Ginnings of Columbus, IN; son Gordon (April) Ginnings and granddaughter Zoe of Columbus, IN; daughter Sarah (Bill) Ginnings Nowlin of Los Altos Hills, CA; brother Walker (Margaret) Fillius of La Jolla, CA; and nephew Chris (Allison) Fillius and his children.

In keeping with Mrs. Ginnings wishes cremation will take place and there are no services planned at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home.

Private inurnment will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery.
