A noncompetitive environment in which children ages 4 to 10 can learn the basic skills of hockey without distractions that are often associated with an overemphasis on winning. NATIONAL POW/MAI RECOGNITION DAY CEREMONY, 6:30 p.m., Sept. 16, Bartholomew County Memorial for Veterans, 234 Washington St., Columbus. The National POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony will honor those who are missing or were prisoners of war, in a ceremony lasting about one hour. A reading of the names of those who were either declared POW, MIA or both is planned. The Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir will perform along with vocalist Harvey Leggett and the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard and Southern Indiana Pipe and Drums.

FALL BAZAAR, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 1, Sandy Hook United Methodist Church, 1610 Taylor Road, Columbus. The church will have a variety of stations selling items in settings like a boutique, crafts, greenhouse, library, sweet shop, and flea market items. All money from the bazaar is going to mission work for the church, and with this being a mission event, we are also collecting tomato soup at this event to go toward our goal of 1,300 cans. This will take place in the parking lot of the church or inside in case of inclement weather.

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, 524 Third St., Columbus. The museum is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. BCHS hosts two permanent exhibits that share the history and heritage of Bartholomew County. Learn about our county through interactive, hands-on exhibits that include a map table, notable people, county timeline, Then and Now, Did You Know, early industrialists and videos of Reeves steam engines. Irwin Miller Architecture Program presents Arboreta, an exhibition by artist John Berry, in the gallery through Sept. 30.
