Services and studies
Asbury United Methodist Church — Asbury offers a traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m. Nursery is available for both services. J.A.M. (children’s church) is offered at both services. The church also offers Sunday school classes at 10 a.m.

Have you ever wanted to ask Jesus a question face to face? We may not get a chance in this life, but others had that opportunity during Jesus’ life. Sundays through Oct. 2, we will explore those questions, Jesus’ answers, and what they mean for us today in our sermon series, “The Things They Asked.”
Every Thursday when school is in full-day session, a $4 taco/chicken lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with Pit Stop (Taco Church) Lunch.

East Columbus Christian Church — East Columbus Christian Church is open for in-person worship on Sunday mornings with a blended worship service at 10 a.m. The church also has online worship available through Facebook and YouTube.
Sunday morning Bible study is at 9 a.m. Youth meet at the church from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and children’s ministry meets through Zoom on Wednesdays at 5 p.m.

East Columbus United Methodist Church — Pastor Jongmin Lee will bring the message at the 9 a.m. Sunday morning worship service. The blended worship service includes praise music, traditional hymns and Children’s Moment. Sunday school is held immediately following the morning service, and classes are available for all ages and Bible interests. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.
A Free Hot Meal will be served the second Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Youth Center Building, all are welcome to come!

Faith Lutheran Church — Worship each Sunday begins at 9 a.m. in-person and livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Most Sundays, Sunday school and an adult Bible study are offered from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Wednesday evening worship (masks required) takes place at 6:30 p.m. each week. The congregation also livestreams a daily devotion and prayer Monday through Thursday at 7 a.m. on the Facebook page.
Preschool classes began on Aug. 16 and the congregation offers an afterschool program each school day from 3 to 5:30 p.m. with busing from Southside Elementary.

First Lutheran Church — The church offers in-person worship on Sunday mornings at 8:45 a.m. for the classic service and 11:15 a.m. for the casual service. Livestreaming of both services can be accessed on the church’s YouTube page.
Starting its 22nd year, the church will host Sunrise Bible Study, which ministers to people with intellectual disabilities. The year began on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. with Wounded Healer leading the praise music followed by prayer and fellowship. The study will begin with “God Created the World” on Sept. 19. First Presbyterian Church — The church is delighted to welcome to our pulpit the Rev. Paula Pettis-Garrett, who serves as associate pastor at Avon Christian Church. The choir will lead us in worship.

First United Methodist Church — On Sunday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m., the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “A Bigger Table”. The scripture will be Acts 11:1-18.
The church encourages those attending in person to arrive 10 minutes before the service. Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrances to the sanctuary. Masks are optional. Sunday school for kids up to eighth grade will begin at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Childcare will be available from 9:45 a.m. until the end of the 10 a.m. service.
For those unable to attend the in-person service or not yet comfortable meeting in person, service livestreams will be available on the church Facebook page, facebook.com/columbusfumc, and our YouTube channel (go to youtube.com and search for FUMC Columbus). Videos will be available on the church website for later viewing as well.
On Friday, Sept. 30, the church will host a blood drive in Fellowship Hall from noon to 5 p.m. Go to www.redcrossblood.org to register to donate.
On Saturday, Oct. 1, the church will have its annual “Blessing of the Animals” in the green space at Ninth and Lafayette. Bring your pet at 10 a.m. to receive a blessing.
On Friday, Oct. 7, the church will host the Singing Hoosiers in concert at 7 p.m. This will be a ticketed event; you must have a ticket to get in (due to the seating capacity of the sanctuary). Tickets are free, however, and can be picked up at the church office. Limit 10 tickets per person. Tickets, as well as seating in the sanctuary the night of the concert, will be first come, first served.

Flintwood Wesleyan Church — Sunday morning worship begins at 9 a.m. with the Amplify (contemporary) service. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. with classes for all age groups. The Well (traditional) service begins at 11 a.m. Both worship services are led by Pastor Wesley Jones. The church’s Sunday Amplify services are livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.

Garden City Christian Church — Sunday School classes are available for infants through adults at 9 a.m. Pastor Brian Gilroy continues to lead the church through the 1 Corinthians sermon series during the 10 a.m. Sunday morning worship service.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Pastor Al White, the church’s transitional pastor, is leading worship and sharing messages that encourage firm foundations of faith in Jesus. Simple church — simply Jesus.
The church has added a time for discipleship growth at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings. There’s always a coffee and donut time downstairs before the morning worship time at 10 a.m.

Petersville United Methodist Church — The church will gather at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 and will hear Pastor Rebecca Milne’s sermon “RE:frame Prayer” from the series “RE:Boot.” Scripture will be from 1 Timothy 2:1-7 and Pastor Milne will share the notion that praying for everyone means exactly that — everyone — and that thought is a huge challenge.
Kathy Bush will serve as worship and song leader, and Teresa Covert will share a message with the children.
“The Chosen” Bible study began on Sept. 12 and will last for the following six Monday evenings at 5:30 p.m. at the church.
Choir practice has begun again and will be meeting each Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Kathy Bush is the director.

Sandy Hook United Methodist Church — Sandy Hook United Methodist Church gathers weekly for in-person and online worship. The church will offer two services on Sept. 18 — the traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and the contemporary service at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Dazet will bring the message “RE:frame Prayer” as part of the new sermon series “RE:boot.”
Nursery is available for children 2 and younger from 8:30 a.m. until the end of the second service. Sunday school classes are offered between services at 10 a.m.
On Sept. 25, there will be one service at 10 a.m. with a hog roast meal served afterward. This will be to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the Wertz Memorial Church and the 50th anniversary of the building that is Sandy Hook United Methodist. Anyone with history or ties to either is welcome.

Sandy Hook United Methodist Church — Three years in the making due to COVID, the Fall Bazaar 2022 is finally happening! With all the conflict in the world today, this event is to raise money for missions to provide outreach to our community and worldwide, whether it is to help one person or one community/country.
The bazaar is Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a variety of stations selling items in settings like a boutique, handmade crafts, greenhouse, library, sweet shop, and flea market items. All money from the bazaar goes to mission work for the church. Being a mission event, the church is also collecting tomato soup at this event to go toward our goal of 1,300 cans. This will take place in the parking lot of the church or inside in the event of inclement weather.

South Central Indiana Christian Men’s Fellowship — New Hope Christian Church will host the September meeting at their church on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022. Ladies are invited.
