TAYLORSVILLE, INDIANA
Edward P. Loweth, Jr., 80, of Taylorsville, passed away Thursday September 15, 2022 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born November 9, 1941 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Edward P. Loweth, Sr. and Ruby W. Sears Loweth.
Ed served his country from 1961 until 1965 in the U.S. Airforce and was a member of the American Legion. He was a long time member of the Garden City Christian Church. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation Foundry in Indianapolis in 1997 and had previously worked at Golden Foundry. He coached softball for more than forty years including travel ball and at the three area high schools and also helped start the 6 to 8 year old league in Columbus. He generously gave of his time and finances so that many softball players who were at a disadvantage were able to play travel ball.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday September 23, 2022 in Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Ed may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project through the funeral home.
Ed is survived by his children, sons, Eddie (Terry) Loweth and Kevin Chasteen; daughters, Pam (Thomas) Nelson, Jerrie (Mike) Posey and Wendy (David) Franklin; sister, Wanda Loweth; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nancy Ann and a daughter, Lori Huber.
