Robert A. “Bob” Land

NORTH VERNON

Robert A. “Bob” Land, 54, of North Vernon went home to be with Jesus on September 20, 2022, after a short but hard-fought battle with liver cancer.

Bob was born on May 27, 1968, in Columbus, Indiana. Bob brought smiles wherever he went, he loved to have fun and never missed an opportunity to laugh. He loved Jesus and wanted everyone else to do so as well, sharing the gospel with everyone he could. He was a devoted husband, father, Pappy, Youth Group leader, worship leader and best friend to his wife, Christy. He was also an avid sports fan, and had faith that the Pacers, Colts, and Cubbies were going to win another championship soon!

Bob was a 1986 graduate of Columbus East High School and drove a school bus for Jennings County Schools for 12 years. He had previously worked as a logistic manager for Toyota in Columbus for 15 years. Bob was a member of Grayford Road Community Church and Columbus Bowling Leagues, Monday night church league. He enjoyed bowling, watching any sport, and spending time with his family.

Bob leaves behind his dad and stepmom, Mike and Jenny Land, sister Teresa (Craig) Wiseman, wife, Christy Land and six children; Brittany Land, Stephanie (Chris) Johnson, Kindra Irwin, Emily (Seth) McLaughlin, Nick DuLong and Joseph (Andi) DuLong, as well as five grandchildren; Joe, Haleigh, Adeline, Ryder and Emry.

He was proceeded in death by his mother, Kay (Smith) Henderson.

A funeral service for Robert will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Tim Poer officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials in honor of Bob may be made through the funeral home to the Grayford Road Community Church.
