Trinity sweeps Senators

SEYMOUR — Class A No. 4 Trinity Lutheran opened its quest for what it hopes will be a long tournament run with a 25-8, 25-9, 25-16 win against West Washington in the opening round of the Trinity Sectional.

Bailey Tabeling led the Cougars (21-10) 15 kills and four aces. Addison Darlage recorded 32 assists, and Laura Roeder notched 15 digs.

Also for Trinity, Carson Bowling pounded six kills, and Tabeling and Madison Keith each hadfour digs. Roeder and Jordan Brewer each served two aces.

The Cougars will play Medora in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Saturday. The sectional final is at 6 p.m. Saturday.

South Decatur wins in 5

WALDRON — South Decatur rallied from a two-set deficit to pull out a five-set win against Southwestern (Shelby) in the first round of the Waldron Sectional. The fifth set was 15-13.

The Cougars (15-13) will play Waldron in the semifinals at around 1 p.m. Saturday. The sectional final is at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Panthers fall to Floyd

JEFFERSONVILLE — Jennings County saw its season come to an end with a 25-8, 25-18, 25-16 loss to Class 4A No. 6 Floyd Central in the opening round of the Jeffersonville Sectional.

The Panthers finished the season 22-9.
