Patching work to continue at State Road 46 and I-65

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction plans to continue concrete patching this week through early November at the State Road 46 interchange at I-65 in Columbus as part of the ongoing added travel lanes project. Initial restrictions began Sunday. Additional closures are scheduled as follows, weather permitting:

  • Thursday, Oct. 27 to Sunday, Oct. 30: I-65 northbound to State Road 46 westbound right lane closed, I-65 northbound to State Road 46 eastbound (lane up to split) closed (access to State Road 46 eastbound open), State Road 46 westbound to I-65 southbound right lane closed
  • Sunday, Oct. 30 to Tuesday, Nov. 1: State Road 46 westbound to I-65 northbound ramp closed (detour follows State Road 46 eastbound to Carlos Folger Road to County Road 325W to State Road 46 eastbound to I-65 northbound), State Road 46 eastbound to I-65 northbound right lane closed
  • Tuesday, Nov. 1 to Wednesday, Nov. 2: State Road 46 eastbound to I-65 northbound left lane closed, State Road 46 eastbound to I-65 southbound right lane closed (access to I-65 southbound open)

Patching work will affect signal functionality at the interchange. Signals will be placed on timers rather than utilizing in-pavement loop sensors. Delays may be possible.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
