Because of a Republic error in misinterpreting county zoning regulations, the Oct. 23 editorial on county solar land use regulations erroneously described property line setback requirements for a confined animal feeding operation (CAFO) as compared to commercial solar energy systems. According to Columbus/Bartholomew County Planning Director Jeff Bergman, the property line setback requirements for CAFOs are greater than those proposed for solar systems. The setback for a CAFO from a residential lot in an agricultural district is 500 feet compared to a proposed setback of 200 feet for a solar facility under a proposed ordinance amended by Bartholomew County Commissioners this week.

Because of a Republic error, Columbus East soccer player Elijah Goodpaster was misidentified in a photo that ran on Page B1 of Wednesday’s Republic.
