Panthers open with win
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County jumped out to a 14-2 lead after one quarter and went on to post a 60-48 season-opening win Tuesday against Scottsburg.
Juliann Woodard led the Panthers with 32 points. Mollie Ernstes scored 11, and Maddie McIntosh added eight.
Cougars down Indians
MILAN — South Decatur gave Kristen Hicks a victory in her varsity coaching debut, a 46-36 win at Milan.
Molly Eden recorded 12 points and 16 rebounds, and Makayla Somers had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cougars. Kiley Best added 11 points
Eagles fall in opener
SHELBYVILLE — Kylee Edwards scored 45 points to lead Shelbyville to a season-opening 73-53 win against Brown County.
Livie Austin led the Eagles with 14 points. Savannah Oden scored 10, and Maddy Huff added eight.
