Coroner’s office IDs North student found dead at Taylorsville home, autopsy planned

The Bartholomew County Coroner’s office has identified the 15-year-old North teen as Amy Rodriguez, 15, Taylorsville. An autopsy has been ordered and planned for Tuesday, Bartholomew County Coroner Clayton Nolting said. Toxicology tests will also be conducted, he said, and the coroner’s office is pursuing an investigation into a possible overdose due to evidence at the scene where the girl was found.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies are investigating the death of a 15-year-old Columbus North High School student found in a home in the 2100 block of Tyler Drive at 5:26 a.m. today.

Deputies were sent to the address, along with personnel from German Township Fire Department on an initial call of an unresponsive 15-year-old female at the home, deputies said.

Deputies immediately requested detectives from the sheriff’s office who arrived on scene shortly after to begin a death investigation. The Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office also responded to the residence and is assisting in the investigation.

Sheriff Matthew A. Myers said, “At this time the investigation is ongoing and there are no further details to be released pending results from the coroner’s office as well as our investigation.”

Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Det. Dane Duke said, “At this time all involved parties are cooperating with the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office would like to express our condolences to the family, they are in our thoughts and prayers.”
