East’s Dean to play in volleyball All-Star Classic

Columbus East senior Gabby Dean has been selected for the Indiana All-Star team by the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association.

Dean, who led the Olympians to sectional titles the past two years, will be representing the South All-Stars when they take on the North All-Stars at around 4 p.m. Sunday Lawrence North High School.

Woodard named Player of Week

Jennings County junior Juliann Woodard was named IBCA District 3 Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 7-12.

Woodard finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds in a 72-66 win against Cathedral at Knightstown’s Hoosier Gym.

Johnson, Keele named North soccer MVPs

The Columbus North boys soccer team recently announced its end of the year awards.

Anthony Johnson and Flynn Keele were named the co-Most Valuable Players. Keele also won the Bull Dog Award. Max Grewe won the David Green Spirit Award. Nico Gotoh was named Most Improved.

Dutro, Stair selected North volleyball MVPs

The Columbus North volleyball team announced its end of the year awards.

For varsity, Karen Dutro and Emily Stair were named co-Most Valuable Players. Rylie Boezeman won the Bull Dog Award, Kaitlin White won the Mental Attitude Award and Emma Burns won the Kathy Cox Heart of a Bull Dog Award.

For the junior varsity, Gretchen Babb won MVP, Hannah Perry won Mental Attitude Award, Sydney Ousley won Most Improved and Kaitlyn Myers won the Casey Cooley Award. For the C-Team, Lucy Wilson was named the MVP, Allison Penrod was named Most Improved, Janett Hernandez Moreno won the Mental Attitude Award. Perry won the Jolie Crider Memorial Award.

Dwenger named East girls soccer MVP

The Columbus East girls soccer team recently announced its end of the year awards.

For varsity, Norah Dwenger was selected as the Most Valuable Player. Kylie Hatcher and Allison Craig won the Mental Attitude Award, and Morgan Scott, Emma Patterson and Hallie Randle were named Most Improved.

For the junior varsity, Maleah Dyette and Emma Christie were named Most Improved, and Cadence Zeser and Erin Warren won the Mental Attitude Award.

Lin selected North boys tennis MVP

The Columbus North boys tennis team recently announced its end of the year awards.

Hank Lin was named Most Valuable Player and won the Bull Dog Award. Amrit Kar won the Mental Attitude Award, and Steven Sun was named Most Improved.

East at Noblesville game time changed

The Columbus East boys basketball game at Noblesville on Nov. 26 has been moved from a 7:30 p.m. varsity start to a 1:30 p.m. tipoff. The JV will begin at noon.

Hauser at Batesville game rescheduled

The Hauser girls basketball game at Batesville that was scheduled for Nov. 4 has been rescheduled for Jan. 14 with a 2:30 p.m. tipoff. The JV game will begin at 1 p.m.

Jennings adds girls basketball games

Jennings County has added a pair of girls basketball games against Kentucky schools. The Panthers will visit Louisville Ballard on Jan. 10 and host Newport Central Catholic on Jan. 17.
