American Legion post honored for supporting youth programs

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew Myers on Dec. 3 presented a plaque to American Legion Post #24 in Columbus in appreciation of outstanding contributions to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office.

“The American Legion has provided thousands of dollars to our community and to the sheriff’s office by supporting the Sheriff’s Youth Academy and our DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program,” Myers said.

Myers said that support has allowed the sheriff’s office to be more involved with youth and, provide more proactive policing and build numerous positive relationships.
