Holiday closings list

The following closings have been reported for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

  • Columbus city offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26. City offices reopen on Dec. 27. For the New Year’s holiday, city offices are closed Dec. 30 and Jan. 2, and reopen on Jan. 3.
  • The Columbus Department of Public Works will follow the city offices closing schedule with offices reopening at 7 a.m. on Dec. 27 and Jan. 3. There will be no city trash collection on Monday, Dec. 26. All trash collection will be with a one-day delay, with Friday, Dec. 30 being picked up on Saturday, Dec. 31. For New Year’s, there will be no city trash collection on Monday, Jan. 2. All collections will be on a one day delay with Jan. 6 collections picked up on Jan. 7.
  • The Columbus City Utilities will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26. Regular business hours resume at 8 a.m. Dec. 27. For New Year’s, offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 30 and Monday Jan. 2, with business hours resuming at 8 a.m. Jan. 3. Customers with a problem with water or sewer service should call the business office at 812-372-8861 and follow the prompts. As a reminder, the utilities lobby is closed due to renovation and all business transactions are being conducted at the drive-up window.
  • All Bartholomew County offices, including the county courthouse, will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26 and for New Year’s on Friday, Dec. 30 and Monday Jan. 2.
  • As is the tradition, The Republic will not publish a Christmas Day paper on Dec. 25 to allow its employees to enjoy the day with their families. Regular publication will resume on Dec. 26, although the Republic offices will be closed on Dec. 26 as the official holiday day for employees.
