The Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 10, for a roadway improvement project along State Road 7 in Jennings and Bartholomew counties.
The meeting will be at Scipio Elementary School, 6320 State Road 7. It will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the project, view displays, ask questions, and provide comments to the project team.
The $27.8 million project includes safety and mobility improvements between U.S. 50 in North Vernon and just north of U.S. 31 in Columbus.
As part of the project, shoulders along much of the State Road 7 corridor will be widened to 6 feet on each side of the roadway. Auxiliary or passing lanes will be added at various locations. Intersection and drainage improvements are also included, according to INDOT.
The project is scheduled to let to contractors in the spring of 2026. Construction will follow once the contract has been awarded.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow the public time to view displays and interact with project personnel prior to the meeting. A formal presentation will begin at 6 p.m. Information is also posted on the project website and can be viewed any time.
Questions and comments may be submitted in-person at the hearing, on the project website, or via mail or email to Hannah Walker with American Structurepoint. To email, send comments to [email protected] or by mail to American Structurepoint Inc., Attn. Hannah Walker, 9025 Ri9ver road, Unit 200, Indianapolis, Ind. 46240.
All comments are requested to be submitted by the end of business on Monday, Jan. 23.
