GIRLS BASKETBALL

Panthers down Bull Dogs

Jennings County built a 15-4 lead over Columbus North after the first quarter and went on post a 59-39 win. Juliann Woodard finished with a game-high 27 points and Mollie Ernstes added 18 to lead the Panthers (10-3). Lauren Barker and Kathryn Wilson finished with eight points apiece to lead the Bull Dogs (9-5).

WRESTLING

Olympians finish 11th

Both Tommy Morrill at 220 (pounds) and Liam Krueger (126) were runner-up in their respective weight classes at the Al Smith Classic in Mishawaka where Columbus East finished 11th with a 96.5. Crown Point won with a 318. The Olympians got a sixth place finish from Talon Jessup (106) and an eighth place finish from Jackson Fox (195).

Bull Dogs place fifth

Justice Thornton won his weight class at 132 (pounds) in the Connersville Classic to help his team to a fifth place finish with a 153. Greenfield-Central won with a 214. The Bull Dogs had several more wrestlers place in the top eight. Asher Ratliff (145) and Liam Phillips (160) finished in third, Josiah Green (152) was fifth, Jason Shuey (138) and Liam Curfman (113) were seventh and Evan Saevre (170) was eighth.
