Letter: Lawmakers’ Zoom Third House sessions are no longer adequate

From: Dennis Baute

Columbus

It’s hard to imagine the four monthly “Third House” Zoom sessions scheduled during the Indiana legislative season as effective or informative. The in-person weekly sessions scheduled at Columbus City Hall in previous years (before COVID) were excellent and far more enlightening.

We as a community can and should do better, as we’ve done in the past. It’s time for IUPUC, The Heritage Fund, city council, other local institutions/media, or even the representatives themselves to step up with a better and more frequent in-person communication meeting. The current “Third House” format sponsored by The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce is no longer adequate.
