East routs Eastern

PEKIN — Columbus East raced to a 55-18 halftime lead to force a running clock in the second half and snapped a seven-game losing streak Thursday with a 68-44 win at Eastern (Pekin).

“We played our best half of the year,” East coach Danny Brown said.

Saige Stahl scored 26 of her game-high 32 points in the first half and recorded seven steals to lead the Olympians (6-11). Jenna Guse had 13 points, and Leah Bachmann added 10.

Cougars down Mohawks

GREENSBURG — South Decatur jumped out to an 18-4 lead after one quarter and went on to post a 60-35 Mid-Hoosier Conference win against Waldron.

Kiley Best led the Cougars (5-11, 2-2) with 18 points and six steals. Makayla Somers and Molly Eden each had 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Paige McQueen added nine points.

BN edges Bull Dogs

Columbus North put up its best score of the season, but fell just short in a 106.3 to 105.6 loss to Bloomington North.

Reese Euler won the vault (9.35) and bars (9.25) and finished third on the beam (9.325) and floor (8.875) on her way to winning the all-around with a 36.8.

Lindsey Mullis placed third on the vault (9.0) and bars (8.9), fourth on the floor (8.775) and fifth on the beam (9.175) to take second in the all-around with a 35.85.

Also for the Bull Dogs, Ellie McIntier was fourth on the vault (8.8).
