COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Clay “Dyke” Dwight Garland, 83, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday evening January 10, 2023 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. He was born February 18, 1939 in Seymour, Indiana, the son of Clay R. and Ione (Green) Garland.
Dyke was a truck driver who thoroughly loved his time driving trucks. He retired from Kirts Trucking Company. He was a loving husband and father who had a gentle spirit with everyone he met. He was lovingly called the big friendly giant from his young niece.
Dyke is survived by his wife, Patricia (Lester) Garland whom he married on November 10, 1962; sons, David and Steven Garland; brothers, John and Doug Garland; sisters Janet Weber and Linda Garland; brother-in-law, Roy (Diana) Lester and sister-in-law, Linda (Dale) Moss. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Reece and Virginia Lucas and his brother, Robert Garland.
