CFD Battalion Chief Cain retires after 28 years

The Columbus Fire Department announced last week that Battalion Chief Jeff Cain will retire after 28 years with the department.

Cain, who joined CFD in 1994, was promoted to sergeant, lieutenant and captain before being promoted to battalion chief in 2019. He obtained certifications as an emergency medical technician, hazardous materials technician, rope rescue technician, vehicle and machinery extrication technician and fire officer I.

Cain retired from fire station #1 as the highest ranking officer of Battalion C on Jan. 6.
