COLUMBUS
Robert K. “Bob” Newman, 73, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Columbus Regional Health.
Bob was born in American Fork, Utah August 17, 1949, the son of Lester Roy and Mary Street Newman. He married Carin Ross in Reno, Nevada January 23, 1971.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served with honors as a medic in the Army in Vietnam, receiving the Bronze Star Medal. He was a former employee of Cummins Engine Company, 7-K Farms, Shoaf Construction and Right Way Fasteners.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carin Newman of Columbus; daughter, Jessica Clawson of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mother, Mary Erickson and step-father, Douglas Erickson of S. Jordon, Utah; sisters, Leslie LaChance of Salt Lake City and Kathy Lundy of Lehi, Utah; brother, Dr. Stephen Newman of Mexico; grandchildren, Jonathan Clawson, Jacob Clawson, Josie (Matt) Stevenson, Sophie Clawson, Sam Clawson and Ruby Clawson.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3330 30th Street Columbus, IN 47203 with Bishop Hiram Taim officiating. Visitation 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday to service time at the Church. Burial will follow at New Harmony Cemetery at Mineral Springs with military honors by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
