Nellie Mae Hoeltke, 87, of Columbus passed from this life at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Hoeltke was born on April 29, 1935, in Columbus, the daughter of Richard Andrew Mann and Elda Opal Cook Mann Brown. On July 5, 1953, she married Robert E. Hoeltke.

Mrs. Hoeltke enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother with her children when they were younger, she then went on to work at Saps Buffeteria and then at Cambridge Square where she was the property manager. She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting, making holiday candy beginning in October-December for gift giving, making clothes including baby clothes and was known to be an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls and loved displaying them in her home. Her generosity and kindness to others were her greatest gifts, always ready to lend a hand. She never met a stranger and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Some of her greatest joy came from her 2 children. She loved to travel, creating many memories while enjoying trips as a family visiting Florida, Hawaii and camping several places around the United States. She enjoyed one trip travelling overseas with her daughter to Germany.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Robert E. Hoeltke of Columbus; children, David (Vickie) Hoeltke of Columbus and Nancy (Edgar III) Godfrey of Punta Gorda, Florida; grandchildren, Nicholas Hoeltke, Matthew (Alexandra) Bowers, and Paige (Zachary) Bowers Mote; great grandchildren, Alec Hoeltke, Brooke Hoeltke, Kinsley Mote; siblings, Jack (Pam) Mann, Mike (Debbie) Brown, Linda Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother, Elda Brown, her stepfather, Carl Brown; and siblings, Velma Winchester, Joanne Fields, Richard Mann, Mary Jewell Chappell, Inez Doane, Alberta Sweat, and Nancy Louise Brown.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Reverend Tim Carter officiating.

Family and friends may call for visitation from 11:00 a.m. to till time of service.

Inurnment will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

In memory of Mrs. Hoeltke memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to the American Diabetes Association.
